My computer ... where I spend a great deal of time ... has always been facing a wall... making it a dark and dreary place to work. This summer, I took down the black curtains left from my younger son's teen-age years (yes, the one who now has a 2-year old son, iknowiknow!) and replaced them with light curtains that would open easily. I also had the silver-gray walls painted with a light tan color. Then I ordered this fantastic corner desk system from Pottery Barn so now I can look out the window while I work (before & after shots will come soon). It has really made a difference in my attitude. Here's the view from my in-home office window in the late, late afternoon as the sun is setting and the rays are gently kissing the crepe myrtles.

WOW! Those are some CLEAN windows! ;) Beautiful view Di!
So you don't worry about the light affecting your monitor and your editing? I just hung a black out curtain to keep out the changing light. I starting noticing a difference based on when I worked - night vs morning or afternoon.
These are black-out curtains, but they're a light color. If I'm editing in the morning when the sun is brightest I only open one side. But you know we spend a lot of time on the computer when we're not editing, so I open them then.
Okay, so when I saw the light on the crepe myrtles I went outside and stood in front of my window to take the pictures. LOL!
