Kasey and Brett - Sneak Peek

I had a blast yesterday serving as second shooter for Kasey and Brett's Engagement Portrait session, and I just couldn't wait to upload a few images for a sneak peak. Kasey's mom Sherry was the main photographer, but she wants to just be a mom on the day of the wedding. Kasey and Brett are so much fun! Their wedding date is December 27th. I expect it will be as much fun as the engagement session. These were taken in Confederate Memorial Park in Marbury.

Editorial Comments?

Elijah is just not so sure how he feels about Mamere's big ol' flash yet. Hopefully, he'll get accustomed to it soon! His dad says he's also not so sure about Auburn's offense this year!

Senior Collage

I wish I could say this was my idea ... but to be perfectly honest it came from an ad in a recent photography magazine. I just had to give it a try with some images from a recent senior portrait session. I think it's such a great collage idea for seniors/graduates. I hope you all can see it the "reflections" at the bottom of the image in your monitors.

MPPA Print Competition 2008

Once each year, the Montgomery Professional Photography Association holds a print competition for students, amateurs and professional photographers. The prints are displayed at the Alabama State Fair in October. The annual competition was held yesterday. I was very honored to receive the following awards:

Several friends and photography associates won in the amateur and professional division. I'm particularly proud of associate Lori Mercer (many of you have met her as the second shooter at weddings) for winning first place in the children's portraits in the professional division.

Saturday Senior Session

I thoroughly enjoyed a late afternoon session with this beautiful senior today. I only had time to pull these four out of many more that will be available soon for this young lady and her parents.

Beautiful Saturday

Today is just the perfect day for photography! The temperature and lighting are ideal. And these two precious children were the perfect subjects! I so enjoyed my time with them this morning. I hurried back to upload a few samples from the session before running off to an afternoon senior portrait shoot.

The Alabama Housing Finance Authority is a favorite commercial client. This page from their 2007 Annual Report features one of my assignments from them.

Haley's Bridal Portraits

I couldn't release Haley's beautiful bridal portraits until today - after her wedding. Our favorite, and the one that caused quite a stir at the reception, is the one with Haley in front of the red door of Grace Episcopal Church. We were able to get these late in the afternoon just before Hurricane Faye started to impact Montgomery weather.

September Mini Session

I'm experimenting with a new location for portrait photography in September - The Confederate Memorial Park in Marbury, AL.

Confederate Memorial Park is the site of Alabama's only Old Soldiers Home for Confederate Veterans. In operation from 1902 to 1939, the home cared for elderly veterans, and wives and widows of veterans. The site included 22 buildings consisting of cottages, a hospital, dairy barn, mess hall, an elaborate water and sewage system, and Memorial Hall, an administration building which held offices, a library, and a large auditorium. The home served between 650 and 800 residents. The majority of veterans served in Alabama outfits, but many were from other Confederate states and moved to Alabama after the war. The last veteran died at the home in 1934. The facility closed in 1939 when the five remaining widows were moved to Montgomery for better care.

Features of the 102-acre site:
. two cemeteries
. Mountain Creek Post Office
. Marbury Methodist Church
. nature trail
. covered pavilions
