I have become primarily a portrait/wedding photographer. But my first love was flowers. I love photographing them ... not planting or watering them. I just want them to magically appear and survive over the long, hot, dry Alabama summers.

Haylie happened to be here the day the new 5d mark ii arrived. I wanted to experiment with background lighting as well as shutter speed. She was happy to assist when I pulled the trampoline over so the setting sun would be at her back.





Haylie is the perfect "subject" for anyone wanting to practice shutter priority mode :)

Enjoy Nolan

I know, I know ... I said no new clients until mid-June. But newborns are always the exception! They just won't keep until June!



Nolan was far too interested in what we were doing to take a nap for us.







We tried to wait him out ...



for about three hours!



This was as close as we came to a nap:



And it didn't last very long :)

Maggie has been trained to not touch the baby, so when I tried to get her to give Nolan a kiss she looked to her pack leader for guidance ...



... and gave her a kiss instead! I just loved it!

Haylie was willing to help me try out the shutter priority mode on the new camera as long as G (grandfather) would push her in the swing. I did photoshop out the chocolate milk mustache, but didn't want to invest the time to get rid of the zoo bracelet and she wasn't going to give it up!!

Enjoy 9 mos

The 9-month session is my absolute favorite during a baby's first year. They're old enough to sit up and smile, but not old enough to walk. They're curious about the world around them and ready with smiles that show off their new little teeth. This sweet little lady just proves my point. I met her and her sweet mom recently for a session at Jasmine Hill. Dad is serving our country overseas and I hope he can see and enjoy these while the rest of the gallery is uploading.
