Best of Class - Photographing Children

I recently completed an online course on Photographing Children through Better Photo. I received word today that I had been chosen "Best of Class" by my fellow students. Picture of the Day

What a delightful surprise to wake up this morning and see that "Peek-A-Boo" had been selected by the judges at Digital Image Cafe as their Picture of the Day in the People category! I haven't had the opportunity to enter many contests this year, which is great since it means I've been so busy taking portraits! I can't say enough good things about Digital Image Cafe and the important part the competition there has played in my growth as a photographer. So, it's a special honor to have this photograph recognized by them today!

Fifth Birthday

Children on or around their fifth birthday make excellent subjects for portrait photography. They will be losing their baby teeth soon resulting in major structural changes to their faces. This age takes direction very well and usually likes to be involved in their portrait session. If allowed a little freedom of expression, the end result will provide beautiful and natural expressions of your child that your whole family will love. I was reminded of how much fun it is to photograph this age with these two sweet girls:

Pruitt-Johnson Wedding
