Black and White Portraits

In the digital age, we often forget how timeless and beautiful black and white portraits can be. I really enjoyed a portrait session today with a delightful and cooperative 8-year old that yielded many beautiful images. These three are among my favorites.

Location Portraits at Buena Vista

Buena Vista is a historic, Greek Revival style plantation house built circa 1822 located on County Road 4 in Prattville, Alabama. It is beautifully maintained and preserved by the Autauga County Historic Association. They graciously allow the house to be rented by the hour for indoor location portraits as well as weddings, receptions, teas, luncheons, etc. Here are a few that were taken yesterday at Buena Vista of a precious little 9-month old. Wow!

What a great photo session I had this morning with a sweet little two-year old girl! Her mom and grandmother had put so much thought into gathering things she'd like to play with: her bear, flowers, a tea party. I just had a great time and am so proud of the images I was able to capture. Here are just a few of my favorites.

February Portrait Special: Maternity/Newborns

The following special was announced first in my February newsletter.:

I recently attended a workshop in Atlanta for Maternity and Newborn photography and I am VERY excited to perfect the techniques I learned. Therefore, if you're expecting a baby in March, April, or May you are eligible to receive a free Maternity AND Newborn photo session. The maternity session must be scheduled between March 8th and April 12th and the newborn session must be scheduled the first or second week after delivery. Photographs may be ordered "a la carte" with two-for-one pricing for 33 days after the newborn session is posted. The maternity and newborn sessions will be released in the online gallery at the same time. A collage of newborn images will be offered at regular print prices and you will receive a minimum of 7 free wallets. But... I am only accepting the first five ladies who schedule appointments. Limited to ladies who live in the River Region (Montgomery, Prattville, Millbrook and Wetumpka). Husbands and children may be included in both sessions. A black shrug and wrap set will be provided for your maternity session or you may wear a black, long-sleeve stretch top with black pants. Participants must give permission for the images to be used in online galleries and print competitions.

Saturday Session

Saturday was a beautiful day for an outdoor session at Auburn's Arboretum. I'll post more later so those of you living in the Auburn area can consider this for a future session - especially in the spring when the Azaleas are blooming!
