Quelle Horror!

Thankfully, I read a post on Monday (3/10) about a somewhat common issue with the Canon 5D on my favorite digital photography forum (Digital Image Cafe). So, when I was photographing an event on Friday, heard a clunk and suddenly couldn't see through my viewfinder I knew exactly what had happened. The mirror had detached: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=PgComSmModDisplayAct&fcategoryid=215&modelid=11933&keycode=2112&id=55659. This was my last image and the mirror had apparently already detached at this point:



I honestly don't know what I would have done if I hadn't read the forum post on Monday! I called Canon, they're sending a UPS label and repairing it at no charge.

Thanks to a fellow photographer and wonderful friend/person, I have a 5D to use while I'm waiting on mine to get repaired. So, if you have an appointment scheduled during March/April you have no need to worry!

Road Trip

Six River Region photographers took a road trip to Atlanta yesterday to attend a photography seminar. We had a great time discussing cameras, children, blogs, facebook, print labs, etc. Here's a snapshot of us at the seminar:

Okay, so we're not so creative with our studio names! LOL! But there is a lot of creative energy within the group. Most of us are portrait and/or wedding photographers.

We also stopped for a bite to eat on the way there. We left at 10:00 AM yesterday morning and got back around 2 AM this morning!

Signs of Spring

Who would believe we'd have such a beautiful spring day yesterday when we'd experienced snow last Sunday? What a difference 7 days can make!

My husband loves his apple trees, so I try to get a few pics of the blossoms each year.

Mama's Got a Brand New Mailbox!

About 18 years ago, a friend backed into my mailbox bending the metal post. I've been begging for a new mailbox since it happened, but my frugal husband just kept thinking he could fix it. He finally gave up this year and bought a new post. He then proceeded to put the old,rusty mailbox back on top! LOL! My daughter came to the rescue with a new, hand-painted mailbox for my birthday. My husband got it placed on the post last night. I wanted to document the special occasion before it gets hit again!

South Pacific

It's time for the annaul Spring Play at Trinity Presbyterian School. This year they're performing South Pacific. These are just a few of the more than 500 images that will be uploaded for them in an online gallery. The photos were taken at their dress rehearsal on Wednesday night. I thought the kids did a great job, not to mention the beautiful set by the art department and the expert leadership of several current and former teachers and assistants.

May I say that stage lighting is very challenging to capture in photographs!
